New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) is over halfway through its virtual Student Orientation Sessions, and early evidence shows that families and students are finding their way to each live and on-demand session and asking good, critical questions as they work to transition to Carolina. NSFP staff say they are grateful to all the partners across Student Affairs and campus who help make every session possible and provide the most up-to-date and accurate information to the newest members of the Tar Heel community. There are also many students – 22 Orientation Leaders, two Undergraduate NSFP Fellows, and five Summer Project Coordinators – making orientation happen every week.
There are a number of other ways NSFP staff are helping students and families with the transition to campus:
- Carolina Family HandbookNew Student Guide
- Orientation Welcome Mailers: These mailers are being sent to all new, incoming students to welcome them and get them excited for the approaching start to Fall 2021. Each mailer is designed to look like a travelling trunk with Carolina-themed stickers. All include tumbler, reusable stainless-steel straw, customer sticker, pom-pom, “Hark the Sound” mini pennant, postcard with a QR code directing students to a Spirit and Traditions web page and asks them to share their social media posts with the hashtag #UNCyousoon.
