For Nico Gleason ‘25, a childhood love of trains created a path toward a topic that would define his college experience. A public policy major, Gleason found himself enthralled with the mechanics of trains and their ability to transport both passengers and freight. He explored this passion by researching systemic issues in the interaction of freight and passenger rail services. He hopes to understand the reasons behind these issues and come up with solutions that help trains run on time more consistently. Gleason plans to continue his research independently after graduation. “Immerse yourself in research because that will produce your best work and will also be the most personally fulfilling,” he says.
