Student Org Spotlight: UNICEF at Carolina

October 31, 2022 | |

Meet UNICEF at Carolina, a student organization working to serve and advocate for the education and protection of children all around the world. Co-President Sree Gogineni speaks about her experience with UNICEF at Carolina:

  1. What is UNICEF at Carolina all about?
UNICEF at Carolina is a service club that aims to advocate for the basic rights of children all around the world. Our mission is to help the local community by educating, advocating, and fundraising for UNICEF's survival, protection and development work for children in over 190 countries and territories.
  1. How do you help students?
We offer opportunities for students to earn service hours by leading fundraising efforts to support UNICEF's international aid programs, spreading awareness of global issues affecting children's health, and advocating for new legislation at the local and national levels. Additionally, students can find a community of like minded people who share a similar passion of helping those in need.
  1. What do you like most about being a member of UNICEF at Carolina?
As a member of UNICEF at Carolina, you genuinely feel like you are making a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals. This feeling of gratitude and helpfulness is what I look forward to most while attending meetings, hosting fundraisers, and participating in educational events.
  1. What has been your favorite event with UNICEF at Carolina (from this or previous semesters)?
My favorite event as a club is Trick or Treat for UNICEF. During the month of October, we combine the Halloween spirit with fundraising to raise money to save and improve children's lives around the world. Donations through these events to promote Trick or Treat for UNICEF help deliver health care and immunizations, safe water and sanitation, nutrition, education and emergency relief to children who need it the most.
  1. How can students get involved?
