NPHC Legacy Plaza Dedication

The UNC National Pan-Hellenic Council Legacy Plaza, a space in the SASB courtyard honoring the contributions of Carolina’s nine NPHC fraternities and sororities, will be dedicated Oct. 29 during Homecoming Weekend.

The UNC NPHC Legacy Plaza project was launched for the 45th anniversary of the NPHC and will open on its 48th anniversary. The plaza was designed as a space for people to congregate and recognize the signifiant contributions of Carolina’s historically black fraternities and sororities to the campus community through their scholarship and public service. The UNC NPHC Legacy Plaza will honor the past and ongoing work of these fraternities and sororities.

Each column represents an organization featuring its crest, national and university charter date, and motto, placed in order of its founding at UNC. Over 200 bricks and pavers have special inscriptions purchased by alumni to cement their legacy.

“This project was hugely donor supported, and we are so thankful for the support,” said Zack Hawkins, director of Student Affairs development.
