After a competitive national search, Gary Alan Miller has been appointed as the Director of University Career Services at UNC Chapel Hill. Gary is currently the Executive Director of the Career Center at Hofstra University and has over 20 years of extensive experience higher education. He has nearly 10 years of previous experience at UNC Chapel Hill including the Senior Assistant Dean in the Academic Advising Program, Assistant Director for Social Media and Innovation in University Career Services, and other roles on campus. Gary is a frequent writer and speaker in the field, including numerous presentations for the National Association of Colleges and Employers, a co-authored chapter in Leadership in Career Services: Voices from the Field (Steinfeld and Contomanolis, 2013), and a co-authored eBook titled Collaboration in Career Services (Nobles and Miller, 2015)
Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University, a Master of Science degree in Social Foundations of Education from Georgia State University, and is completing his dissertation in the Ed.D. degree in Learning and Teaching at Hofstra University. He will begin his position on Monday, March 27, 2017.
