Accommodations for Religious Observances

January 17, 2023 | |

We understand that many members of our Carolina community balance the demands of our academic calendar with important religious practices and beliefs, particularly when those schedules directly overlap. As we launch into the spring semester, we want to remind you of our student resources to help you navigate this balance.

As part of our religious accommodations request process, find the most up-to-date information on the University Approved Absence Office website.

Also, the Provost’s office routinely reminds faculty about major holy days and religious observances and encourages flexibility regarding class attendance and deadlines that may coincide with these dates.

We hope these resources help to support your overall well-being at Carolina. If you have questions about the policy or the process for requesting religious accommodations, please reach out to the RAAC at [email protected] or to the Equal Opportunity and Compliance Office (EOC).

NOTE: This message was sent to all students from Student Affairs Vice Chancellor Amy Johnson via a campus-wide email on Jan. 13, 2023. For the most up-to-date information, please visit the University Approved Absence Office website.
