Top 10 useful tools for students in the Hello Heels mobile app  

As the spring 2026 semester begins, check out these top-ten tools to help you navigate campus, stay informed, and get instant info on what’s happening in our community of Tar Heels. The Hello Heels app is available to download at no cost via Android and Apple stores. 

  1. Place mobile food orders — Order food from your phone via the Hello Heels app thanks to a new Carolina Dining Services integration. Find the dining icon in the quick links section to get started.  
  1. Subscribe to opt-in message channels — Get real-time info about topics you care about, like what CLEs are happening soon, where you can find free food, and more. Find the messages feature in the bottom toolbar to get started. 
  1. Use the search bar — Find the search icon in the bottom toolbar; popular searches include CLEs, dining resources, and the academic calendar. 
  1. Connect to Canvas — Start the spring semester by connecting your Canvas account to the app homepage, which displays course locations, meeting times, assignments, and communications from instructors. 
  1. Learn where to grab food — Find accurate info on what’s open and available from Carolina Dining Services, food trucks nearby, and more. 
  1. Check the bus schedule — Learn real-time bus info from Chapel Hill Transit. 
  1. Access your One Card — Move your digital One Card to the Hello Heels app with an easy-to-use integration.  
  1. Customize your quick links — Find the customize button near the quick links section to tailor your app experience with resources that best meet your needs. 
  1. Prioritize your health and well-being — Check the crowd meter at the Student Recreation Center, learn about Counseling and Psychological Services, and connect with Campus Health, all in the essential resources section of the app. 
  1. Connect with student organizations — Browse clubs or attend an event by checking out the Heel Life calendar.
