Nesreen Abu Khalaf is from Lexington, North Carolina. Nesreen is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science with minors in Entrepreneurship and Geography. The main social justice issue Nesreen works on is childhood hunger and food insecurity. Nesreen’s community partner is TABLE in Carrboro, North Carolina. Nesreen works with TABLE to help provide weekly emergency food aid to kids in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area. Nesreen oversees certain special diet programs, works with TABLE high school clubs, works to improve family relationships with TABLE, and leads various volunteer shifts, among other tasks. Side from Bonner Leaders, Nesreen is also a part of the Design and Public Relations team at UNICEF at UNC, and the family liaison and interpreter for Syrian families at the Refugee Community Partnership in Carrboro.
