Mental Health and Well-Being Resources for Students

September 13, 2023 | |

Dear Students,

As you know, in a short period of time, our campus community has experienced two events that required our students, faculty, and staff to shelter safely in place.

We understand that these incidents shake our sense of safety in a place we love — where we live, learn, work, and play. Remember that each of us will respond to these events in different ways and at different times. As you can, please support yourself and our community by reaching out when you or others need help and by demonstrating our culture of compassion and care.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will be open at two walk-in locations for support on Thursday, Sept. 14:

  • CAPS offices, Campus Health Building, third floor, 320 Emergency Room Dr.
  • Campus Y, 180 E. Cameron Ave.

Additionally, mental health support is available by calling CAPS 24/7: 919-966-3658.

The Heels Care Network is another great resource to connect with a wide range of services, including a peer chat function, online care referral, and more.

Above all, please be kind to yourselves, to your colleagues, and to everyone in our campus community. Our Tar Heel family is resilient and strong — and we will get through this challenging time together
