Karen Huang is a first-year Bonner Leader majoring in Biology. The community partner Karen is associated with is the Refugee Community Partnership. Karen is working as a Bridge Builder which means that she visits a specific family each week to helps them get acclimated with the community. Karen will also be taking on other leadership roles in addition to being a Bridge Builder. Outside of the Bonner Leadership Program, Karen is a member of the Service and Leadership Residential Learning Program, Campus Y with HYPE, Buckley Public Service Scholars, and the Chinese Undergraduate Student Association. Karen attended Carolina Kickoff before her first year of college through the Campus Y. During high school, In high school, Karen volunteered at Caldwell Animal Shelter, Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, and school events such as blood drives, prom and yearbook committee.
