Fall break 2025 resources for students

For Tar Heels who find themselves in the Chapel Hill area over fall break, there is still plenty to do. Check out the resources events and ways to care for yourself during the break listed below.  

Campus Health

Campus Health and CAPS will be open with regular hours during fall break. When Campus Health or CAPS are closed, students can receive 24/7 support by calling (919) 966-2281 for UNC Nurse Connect and on-call providers at (919) 966-3658 for CAPS 24/7.  

Campus Recreation

Rams Head Recreation Center will be open from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16 and Friday, Oct. 17 and from 12 – 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 19. All other facilities will be closed from Oct. 16 – Oct. 19.  

Carolina Dining Services

Check Carolina Dining Services hours, including dining halls and restaurants on campus. Students can also use flex to order via mobile, both at on-campus restaurants and through delivery to anywhere on campus from Takeout Central, which has access to over 30 local restaurants.    

Carolina Union

The Carolina Union will remain open Oct. 16-17 from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. It will be closed on Oct. 18 and open on Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. 

Cyber Bowl

This October, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State University and Duke University will compete in a month-long test of cyber skills to earn bragging rights and win prizes. 

Downtown Chapel Hill

Visit the Carolina Day Festifall Arts Market on Franklin Street on Oct. 18, tour the Ackland Art Museum or view a show at the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center

Heels Care Network

Check out a variety of events and resources won the Heels Care Network website. 

Heel Life

View a number of events listed on Heel Life for students, including theater at PlayMakers Repertory Company with $10 student tickets and other fun activities

Military and Veteran Student Success Center

The MVSS in Student and Academic Services Building (SASB) South will remain open to veterans and military-connected students over the break. 

North Carolina Botanical Garden

Visit NatureFest at the North Carolina Botanical Garden on Oct. 18 to explore the wonders of nature through fun, hands-on activity stations set up throughout the garden, including carnivorous plants, live animal encounters, native bees, painting with acorn ink, birdwatching, leaf art and fairy house building. 

Student Wellness

Student Wellness will remain open to all students during the break. Students may stop by during regular office hours (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) Thursday and Friday to enjoy coffee, tea and snacks and explore wellness resources.  

University Libraries

Davis Library will be open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, from 1 – 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. – 2 a.m. Sunday. The Undergraduate Library will have limited hours Wednesday and be closed Thursday through Saturday before reopening from 1 – 10 p.m. on Sunday. Wilson Library will maintain standard hours during the break. 

In addition, University Libraries’ online resources are available 24/7. Fall break is a great time to stream a movie, read an online book or check out the news, all free through the library system. 

UNC Student Stores

UNC Student Stores will maintain standard hours, which are 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. during weekdays and 10 – 6 p.m. on weekends. Student Stores Pharmacy will close at 6 p.m. on weekdays and 3 p.m. on weekends. 

Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services  

All confidential support and services available through Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services will remain available for students during the Thursday and Friday of fall break. To connect, please email [email protected] or call (919) 962-1343.
