Mixed Methods Learning Series: Designing and Implementing Data Collection in Mixed Methods Research

October 14 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Mixed Methods Learning Series: Designing and Implementing Data Collection in Mixed Methods Research

This intensive one-day workshop on designing and implementing data collection in mixed methods research covers actionable strategies for formulating research questions that require mixed methods, selecting complementary data types, developing sampling approaches that facilitate integration, and using preliminary findings from one method to strengthen another. Examples from the instructors’ own work will be woven throughout the day, including insights from projects such as the National Study of Youth and Religion, the Chitwan Family Study, and the Family Matters Study,

The hands-on format features small group exercises where participants will have the opportunity to begin workshopping their own projects or engage with provided examples, receiving feedback and building immediately applicable skills. The workshop is open to researchers across disciplines, whether new to mixed methods or seeking fresh approaches. Some prior experience with qualitative and/or quantitative methods is helpful, as the day focuses on integration rather than the basics of individual methods. Optional readings will be shared in advance.

Registration and fee are required to receive Zoom link. Zoom link and welcome packet will be emailed shortly before the event for those registered. Attendance is required as no sessions will be recorded. Early bird pricing available until 7/14/2026.
