Philosophy Department Meet & Greet
What makes a good life? What do we owe to each other? How can we think comprehensively about the world? If you’re curious about these big questions and more, come and meet the folks behind the Department of Philosophy, the Parr Center for Ethics, and the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) Program on Tuesday, August 25th from 3-4pm in the Bynum Hall first floor lobby.
This casual, drop-in meet & greet is open to all undergraduate students regardless of background or academic interests. Faculty, staff, and current students will be on hand to talk courses, degree paths, and all the ways to get involved outside the classroom, including:
- The Philosophy Major & Minor: Explore courses on everything from AI and the future of humanity to bioethics, existentialism, and the philosophy of law, and see how a philosophy degree builds the reasoning and writing skills that translate into law, medicine, tech, policy, and more.
- The Parr Center for Ethics: Learn about the Ethics Ambassador and Ethics Scholar programs, get involved with the nationally recognized High School Ethics Bowl, and see how “ethics is everywhere” plays out in real campus initiatives.
- The PPE Minor: Discover how this five-course interdisciplinary minor blends philosophy, political science, and economics — and satisfies Gen Ed requirements along the way — through reading groups, topical “salons,” and an active PPE Society student org.
Grab some light refreshments and find your community of fellow philosophy-minded students!
