Celebrate Chuseok!
Join us for a festive afternoon celebrating Chuseok, one of Korea’s most cherished holidays! The event kicks off with a panel presentation from four Phillips Ambassadors, Esther, Grace, Kristina, and Gitzelle, who will share their personal experiences studying abroad in Korea across different seasons of the academic year. Drawing on their time abroad in the fall, spring, and summer, they’ll compare and contrast what it’s like to live, study, and explore Korea depending on the time of year, offering firsthand insight into everything from campus life and coursework to seasonal festivals, weather, and day-to-day culture. Following their reflections, we’ll transition into a deeper look at Chuseok itself, the Korean autumn harvest festival, exploring its history, customs, and the meaning it holds for families and communities across Korea today.
After the presentations, the celebration continues with hands-on cultural experiences for everyone to enjoy. We’ll take a break to savor light Korean refreshments, giving you a taste of the flavors that are often part of Chuseok celebrations. Then, get ready to dive into the fun with traditional Korean games that have been played for generations, perfect for bonding with friends old and new. Rounding out the event, we’ll have a norigae making station, where you can create your own traditional Korean decorative accessory to take home as a keepsake from the celebration. Whether you’re curious about Korean culture, planning your own study abroad journey, or simply looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend the afternoon, this event offers something for everyone, so come celebrate the season of gratitude and harvest with us!
