SUMMARY:Tour: A Closer Look at "Ancestral Frequencies"
DESCRIPTION:Tour: A Closer Look at “Ancestral Frequencies”\n\nJoin Ackland Art Museum educators for a lively half-hour look at a small handful of artworks. These engaging conversational tours offer a closer look at and new perspectives on works on view at the Museum. Today’s tour looks at “Ancestral Frequencies: Selected Works by the MFA Class of 2026.”  \nThis is a free\, walk-in event – no RSVP required. \n  \nAbout the Exhibition: \n“Ancestral Frequencies” explores heritage and identity as mutable and shaped through fragments of memory\, migration\, ritual\, and imagination. This exhibition features the work of the graduating artists in the Class of 2026 earning a Master of Fine Arts in studio art: Rojano Mohammadzadeh\, CJ Murphy\, Michelle Lisa Polissaint\, Iris Moyan Wang\, and Wendy Yamilett. This cohort represents a wide breadth of cultural heritage and artistic media. In their art\, mythologies\, spiritual practices\, and historical narratives appear as living systems that shift as they move across time\, geography\, and cultural context. \n“Ancestral Frequencies: Selected Works by the MFA Class of 2026” is curated by Annah Lee\, cultural center manager for the Town of Holly Springs. \nThis exhibition is made possible by the generous support of Maryanna and Will Johnson. \n  \nImage: Iris Moyan Wang\, Chinese\, born 2000\, For You\, 2025\, acrylic on raw canvas\, 32 x 24 inches. SUMMARY:Data Matters: Exploratory Data Analysis Using R Markdown
DESCRIPTION:Data Matters: Exploratory Data Analysis Using R Markdown\n\nSponsored by the UNC Chapel Hill Odum Institute\, Data Matters™ is a week-long series of intensive one and two-day online courses aimed at students and professionals in business\, research\, and government. \nThis course introduces techniques for Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)—both numeric and graphical—to help provide insight into data sets. Using R and RStudio\, we will demonstrate various tools to generate data summaries and introduce R Markdown for generating HTML output. Incorporating R Markdown allows for the generation of output which includes results from statistical analysis\, plots\, figures (such as diagrams)\, and explanations of any output.  \nRegistration and fee are required to receive Zoom link. Zoom link and welcome packet will be emailed shortly before the event for those registered.
