SUMMARY:Carolina Recovery: Weekly Process Group
DESCRIPTION:Carolina Recovery: Weekly Process Group\n\n\nThis is a mutual-support group facilitated by Student Wellness staff for students in\, seeking\, or curious about recovery. Please reach out here or email recovery@unc.edu if you’re interested in joining or want to ask about other substance use resources! \nOur support group goals are the following: \n\nCommunity support: Helping students foster peer support networks; presenting safe and attainable space for students to be honest with themselves and others about struggles and achievements; prioritizing facilitation over leading the group (students become leading participants); reminding students to look for similarities across seemingly different lived experiences. Focus on diversifying and making recovery spaces as inclusive as possible through an intersectional lens.  \nRecovery capital: Acknowledging students’ skills and strengths; discussing and specifying goals and areas of improvement; planning actionable objectives; and recognizing the value of being where our feet are now. Each month\, we will incorporate skills for managing stress and triggers and clarify student values that may positively impact recovery.  \nEmpowerment: Encouraging students to share their experiences and utilize their agency for recovery\, academics\, interpersonal relationships\, and the other eight dimensions of wellness. Prioritizing strategies to build students’ resiliency through topics and themes they can apply throughout adulthood. \n\n**Please note that this space is exclusively for people in or seeking recovery and is NOT open to observers or for educational purposes.  \n\n\n\n\n From Monday\, May 4\, 2026 5:30 PM\n to 6:30 PM EDT\n at Student Wellness.

SUMMARY:Tour: A Closer Look at "Ancestral Frequencies"
DESCRIPTION:Tour: A Closer Look at “Ancestral Frequencies”\n\nJoin Ackland Art Museum educators for a lively half-hour look at a small handful of artworks. These engaging conversational tours offer a closer look at and new perspectives on works on view at the Museum. Today’s tour looks at “Ancestral Frequencies: Selected Works by the MFA Class of 2026.”  \nThis is a free\, walk-in event – no RSVP required. \n  \nAbout the Exhibition: \n“Ancestral Frequencies” explores heritage and identity as mutable and shaped through fragments of memory\, migration\, ritual\, and imagination. This exhibition features the work of the graduating artists in the Class of 2026 earning a Master of Fine Arts in studio art: Rojano Mohammadzadeh\, CJ Murphy\, Michelle Lisa Polissaint\, Iris Moyan Wang\, and Wendy Yamilett. This cohort represents a wide breadth of cultural heritage and artistic media. In their art\, mythologies\, spiritual practices\, and historical narratives appear as living systems that shift as they move across time\, geography\, and cultural context. \n“Ancestral Frequencies: Selected Works by the MFA Class of 2026” is curated by Annah Lee\, cultural center manager for the Town of Holly Springs. \nThis exhibition is made possible by the generous support of Maryanna and Will Johnson. \n  \nImage: Iris Moyan Wang\, Chinese\, born 2000\, For You\, 2025\, acrylic on raw canvas\, 32 x 24 inches.
