Extended Disaster Relief

Extended Disaster Relief

Extended Disaster Relief (EDR) is a student organization that formed immediately after Hurricane Katrina to provide long-term, sustainable relief and support for communities affected by natural disasters. Extended Disaster Relief works to raise awareness in the community about the complex issues that affect such communities, as well as raise funds for responsible non-profits dedicated to immediate, and long term disaster relief. EDR also organizes short-term disaster relief aid trips to natural disaster sites across the U.S.

The EDR committee members have continued to spend their breaks providing volunteer service work for victims of Hurricane Sand since 2012. They have helped and are continuing to help those in Rockaway Beach, Queens, Staten Island and Breezy Point, New York and Jersey City, New Jersey. In addition, they have provided aid to communities in New Orleans, LA, as well as Joplin, Mo and Mirebalais, Haiti.
