Student Health Service Director, Bob Wirag, is the former Director of the Student Health Center for the University of Texas at Austin. The early years of Mr. Wirag's professional career were marked by his formal academic work from his bachelors through the doctoral degree in health education, the latter through the Department of Applied Health Sciences at Indiana University. During a temporary hiatus from the field of higher education and college health, Bob was one of the principals in building a medical publishing company, MEDED, in Westport Connecticut, where he served as Director of Education and Training programs. After his association with Penn State University as Director of Health Education for the University Student Health Center program, Bob accepted the position of Director of the Student Health Center program at the University of Arkansas. Four years later, after building an AAAHC-accredited campus health service program, Bob moved to Austin, Texas, to direct the Student Health Center for the University of Texas. Bob has served his field and the American College Health Association (ACHA) in various positions of leadership and was recognized as President of ACHA in 1990. He continues in leadership roles and is often called upon to consult with other colleges and universities to assist them with program evaluation and enhancement.
