Dr. Kitchen is responsible for student learning and services provided by all the offices and departments within the Division of Student Affairs.

Prior to coming to UNC in 1996, she served as the Vice President for Student Affairs at the University of Maryland Baltimore County for eight years. She served as ACPA 1996 Convention Co-Chair and was on the Maryland College Personnel Association Executive Board.

Her previous experience includes positions in housing at Michigan State and Towson State University, orientation and student organizations at Humboldt State University, and she also served as Director of the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She received her masters degree in College Student Personnel and doctoral degree in educational administration from Bowling Green State University.
