Alcohol Policy Administration
This office receives reports of possible alcohol policy violations and other alcohol-related incidents. The Alcohol Policy covers both on-campus and off-campus incidents and grants the Office of the Dean of Students the authority to receive, hear and determine whether the alcohol incidents violate the Alcohol Policy. Student who are found to have violated the alcohol policy may be required to attend alcohol education classes, undergo individual alcohol assessments, perform community service, and/or have their parents/legal guardians notified. The Office of the Dean of Students notifies parents in cases in which the student(s) involved are under 18 or if the student has had several violations. Files of all alcohol policy violations are maintained in the Office of the Dean of Students for two years.

Our staff coordinates the University's response to crisis issues involving students. By responding to emergencies such as suicidal or threatening behavior, accidental injury or death, and other incidents that require urgent action, staff members work to ensure communication between University and community resources. Frequent contact with media agencies, other Student Affairs departments such as Student Health Services and University Housing and Residential Education, and integration of University disciplinary policies into the response are all important parts of this function. The Emergency Notification Policy is administered through this office.

Diversity Education
The Office of the Dean of Students develops programmatic planning schemes for the entire Division of Student Affairs. In addition to student focus groups, staff focus groups, individual staff interviews and resident assistant training, we help sponsor a variety of diversity-related programs, which you can read about on the programs section of our website.

Harassment and Assault Prevention
This office provides a variety of services related to harassment and assault, including counseling affected students, making referrals, receiving and filing incident reports, sponsoring educational programs, and programmatic planning. We also help students and University staff and faculty interpret University policies in this area. Please look at our publications for more information.

Judicial Programs
Our staff provides advice, training, and other support to student judicial leaders to ensure that due process requirements are met, and that investigations, hearings and other matters are handled responsibly. Approximately 150 students are involved in the student judicial decision-making process, which includes separate systems for undergraduate and graduate & professional school students.
