D. Scott Hudson, Associate Director of the Carolina Union, was recently inducted into the Order of the Golden Fleece, the oldest University honor society of its kind in the nation and the most prestigious honorary society at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Order was founded in 1904 by two first-year law students seeking to bring together those students who had distinguished themselves through "outstanding personal integrity, a superlative record of achievement and service, and loyalty to the University" so that they could work in constructive ways to better the University community. In addition to selecting students who have attained marked distinction in service to the University, since 1913 the Order has also selected honorary members from the University's faculty, staff, and alumni whose achievements and services exemplify the highest ideals of the Order.

Scott Hudson, Associate Director at the Carolina Union, was recently honored with the Employee Forum's Unsung Hero Award. This award recognizes those who make outstanding contributions to their communities and to the people of the State of North Carolina. For over a decade, Scott has been a foster parent to numerous children in the area. In 1999 and again in 2002, as a result of the positive experiences Scott and his wife had, they adopted two of these children. The willingness to open his home to foster children and the compassion Scott illustrated to them, makes him a very deserving candidate of this award. Please join the Carolina Union in congratulating Scott on his honor.
