Meet Tristine

Tristine Johnson
Year: Senior
Major: Global Studies major and Social and Economic Justice and Hispanic Studies double minor
Hometown:Durham, N.C.

Tristine is the co-president of Healthy Girls Save the World, a non-profit organization providing preventative health education for girls in North Carolina. As a varsity Track and Field athlete, she feels that she never would have achieved her successes without the support and encouragement of the people in her community. She is involved with HGSW because she has a deep passion for helping people and wants to give girls in the community the same support and encouragement that helped her reach her goals.

In addition to her work with Healthy Girls Save the World, Tristine is involved with several other on-campus groups including the Dick Baddour Leadership Academy, the Student Athlete Advisory Council, and Carolina Outreach. Outside of campus, Tristine volunteers with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in the Triangle where she is a big sister and mentor.

In her time left at Carolina, she hopes to create a sustainable future for HGSW and make the most out of her final athletic and academic semesters. After graduation, Tristine plans to attend graduate school, continue to train, in hopes to one day be a Track and Field Olympian, and continue working to build sustainable chapters of HGSW. She hopes that one day HGSW will be an international organization geared to help girls all around the world to live healthy lifestyles.
