This school year, Sam has assumed the role of on-site coordinator for UNC’s 2012 session of LeaderShape. Her position calls for the organization of the spring break leadership retreat, which includes pre-event planning, processing applications, and recruiting LeaderShape Cluster Facilitators. While still in the preliminary stages of planning for the trip, Sam is already finding new ways to keep up with the increasingly challenging task.
As well as interning for Carolina Leadership Development, Sam is also very active in organizations aiding families suffering from the loss of a loved one. She is the president of Students of AMF (Ailing Mothers and Fathers), Camper Care Coordinator for Camp Kesem North Carolina, and is a frequent volunteer for Comfort Zone Camp, all of which help children and teenagers cope with the loss of a family member or close friend. Over the summer, she worked in the Mississippi Delta teaching a middle school course on leadership. Constantly giving back to her community, Sam is a caring and inspirational individual here at Carolina.
