Monique is highly involved with student government, serving as the Chief of Staff for the Executive branch. She manages 23 committees, ensures the platform for the Executive branch of student government is carried out in one year and organizes training sessions for the Cabinet and members of Congress. She also is a member of the Senior Advising Committee to the Chancellor, who conduct focus groups and write personal narratives about issues facing first-year students.
Monique developed her effective leadership skills and dynamic communication abilities through participating in the Leadership Institute, where she currently serves as a student board member, investing time in preparing students for their professional interactions. She is also a member and nominating chair for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she made history by partnering with CUAB to bring the sorority’s national president to campus for the first time ever.
She has even participated in the Southeast Asia study abroad program where she conducted her own research on international education policy, and specifically, the role assessment strategies had on students in Singapore. Through her position on student government and various leadership roles throughout Carolina’s community, she is an advocate for students and has a strong influence on policies that impact the Carolina community.
