Week of Welcome

Welcome Back Students

Surrounding the start of classes will be Carolina’s Week of Welcome, or WOW, Friday, Aug. 17- 26. Cookouts, downtown discounts, placement exams, library tours, cookouts, ice cream and more – nearly 100 special events – will offer students, especially new ones, the opportunity to get to know each other and Carolina.

A WOW mainstay, FallFest, is among the events that will help kick off the academic year on Sunday, Aug. 19. The alcohol-free celebration that welcomes students to campus, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on South Road, will stretch from Carmichael Auditorium to the School of Government at Country Club Road. The 16th annual FallFest will feature free food, performances by student groups and bands, games and more. Last year, the crowd was estimated at 22,000. This year, about 250 student organizations and recreation leagues will have information tables where students can find kindred spirits and get involved at Carolina.
